Hi. I Am Additional Second Second...
Tonight I saw Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Very funny family (sort of) movie. Great Jim Carrey and, which is very surprising, children I don't hate! That's very rare.
I am one of those people who sit through all the end titles. And these were one of the prettiest, I must say. As I sit there in the dark I read them and try to find the most obscure or strange occupation. Such classics like Assistant to Mr. Chow-chow (which is a dog) or Assistant Assistant Director (whoever he/she is) are nothing compared to Additional Second Second Assistant Director.
English is not my mother tongue (which is more than obvious from my posts) so I have problems with parsing such title. I don't want to make fun of the person (or persons, because there were three in this movie) behind the title, only of the label. At least he is not entitled Manager in the world where everyone is.
I guess the core is Assistant Director, which is not assistant to the director, but some other director who assists to ... the real director. Either way he is under the director of the movie. Next is Second. Is second one under the first one or are they lined up? And what with the second Second? Is he standing behind first first, first second, second first or outside the studio? And finally Additional. Is he a help to second second, temporary replacement or just a fancy name for a boy bringing coffee?
Those are big questions of life. You may guess what life I have.
