Java Mystery Of (Un)Closed Sockets
Windows has a limit on number of existing client network sockets. I recently ran into this when I started to close sockets which were previously left to be timed out. That was certainly a suprprise, because naturally one would thought that closed socket will be, well, closed much earlier than unclosed one.
New Design, New Location
It was time to give my pages a small face-lift - unified interface to software, texts and blog, better color scheme and no legacy cruft. And with new design came new location: http://alivebutsleepy.srnet.cz.
Most of the public content of old site has been moved here (with automatic redirection), excluding software which is linked from here, but still sits there, Allegro Source Browser which will not be moved, but will keep working, and trash.
Resignation From DejaVu Fonts
This is not as easy as I thought it would be, but anyway. I am resigning from my position as project manager and maintainer of DejaVu fonts.
I've been thinking about it for couple of months. My time reserved for the project got very limited and I also lost a joy of taking care of it. It has been great one and a half year and I really enjoyed it and got lot from it, but now it became more of a nuisance than anything else.
Baby has grown and now it is time to kick it out of a house.

DejaVu News IV.
Let's talk about DejaVu fonts.
Another One Eaten
Another Bitstream Vera derivative, now discontinued SuSE standard fonts, was eaten by us. That added six new glyphs to our fonts. On the road to full Latin Extended-A coverage ten glyphs with comma below (or comma accent or cedilla or what other names it had over the years) were added too. There are also some kerning fixes.
Test version 1.11 yourself.
DejaVu News III.
Here I am again with latest news from the world of DejaVu fonts.
Almost cancelled
2.0 or 1.10? This question was answered with the release of version 1.10. It almost got cancelled because of lack of approved changes, but luckily two new glyphs and a few bug fixes catched in (only one week late).
KMail Gets Personal (And Annoying)
At least it's not Mr. Clippy.
DejaVu News II.
Today it's exactly one year since the release of DejaVu fonts 1.0 (but first public release is even older).
What was last month like for DejaVu fonts? Let's find out now.
Not shining, but still good
Version 1.9 was released today. Almost none of the goals was achieved, but at least the Arev Cyrillic was integrated.
Media Sanatorium
Because I have plenty of room on the server I decided to create Media Sanatorium for media files with accessibility problems. There is e.g. first Czech anime Once Upon a Time at the Bus-stop (pages in Czech, movie in Czech and English). If someone needs a space for his/hers video/audio/whatever, send a mail.
Intrusion Confusion
Intrusion Confusion is a short funny kung-fu movie. Its music and sound effects are so stupid (in a good sense) that I can't stop giggling. Heh, heh, heh.
